Poles suspected, the plane was a cover for questionable transactions
In Poland, a scandal broke out because of the pathetic delivery of medical goods from China a Ukrainian aircraft “Mriya”. It turned out that the authorities had organized the purchase of personal protective equipment of poor quality and at times inflated prices, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Browser.
The poles suspected that the world’s largest plane was just a cover for questionable transactions, the Polish authorities ahead of the presidential elections, which never took place.
An-225 Mriya arrived in Poland from China with large quantities of personal protective equipment, including respirators standard FFP2 and FFP3, on April 14. The load should have been distributed to the hospitals to protect medical staff from the coronavirus.
Because in Poland at that time continued the presidential campaign before the elections scheduled for may 10, to meet the world’s largest aircraft and its Chinese goods drove the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
During a press conference at the plane, he thanked the President Andrzej Duda for his personal contribution to the fight against the virus. According to the head of the Polish government, the Duda conversation with the leader of China, XI Jinping opened the way for Polish companies to purchase a scarce commodity in China.
However, after a month in Poland, a scandal erupted because of the poor quality Chinese respirators, which Polish media have dubbed “Operation Antonov”. Revealed that brought the FFP2 and FFP3 respirators were not approved for use in the European Union.
In addition, it became known that the document confirming the quality, which provided an unnamed Italian company, did not touch medical equipment. It is noteworthy that doubts about the suitability of the goods originated from the Polish supplier.
So a week after the arrival of respirators firm Quantron SA appealed to the Central Institute for labour protection in Warsaw for testing of respirators.
The results for a long time not published, however, journalists understand that they are not okay. These thoughts were confirmed after the Minister of health of Poland rather vague stated that respirators that arrived from China, do not meet the standards.
After that, the Director of the division of communications of the state concern KGHM, who organized the purchase, admitted that the results of the tests showed the inadequate quality of the party of respirators.
In addition, it was found that 1.3 million medical masks, who arrived on Board the “Mriya’s”, bought in China for $ 2 apiece, while their current price discounts barely reaches $ 0.5.
All cargo, including non-certified, and therefore nobody wants FFP respirators, was commissioned and funded by the Polish government. This deal back in early April approved Morawicki, giving a written guarantee of reimbursement of the cost of the party from the state budget.
However, despite the scandal, Poland and China, according to the journalists, continued business relationship, but now do not advertise them.
“Now, everything happens quietly and without fanfare that accompanied the arrival of “Mriya’s” April 14. Another shipment arrived in Wroclaw a week ago. This time the party ordered the Ministry of defense, and delivered her of An-124 “Ruslan”. But now nobody is willing to take for it responsibility”, – the Polish newspaper writes.
