The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky had a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, during which he discussed a number of issues concerning Ukraine, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.
In particular, the sides discussed implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting in Normandy format 9 Dec 2019, in Paris. Zelensky has informed on the security situation in the Donbas.
The Federal Chancellor expressed concern about the failure on the part of illegal armed groups and cease-fire.
The interlocutors discussed the definitions of three additional breeding sites of forces and means on the contact line in the Donbass and expressed hope for progress in this direction at the next meeting of the Trilateral contact group on February 12 in Minsk.
Zelensky once again noted the need to ensure unhindered access of international humanitarian organizations, in particular the International Committee of the red cross to persons held on the uncontrolled territory of Ukraine.
During the conversation, they also spoke about the need to continue personal EU sanctions against former senior officials of Ukraine who are suspected of misuse of public funds and crimes during the Maidan.
