Ukraine and the Vatican share common values and a shared vision of the future, said Vladimir Zelensky.
During an official visit to the Holy see, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with state Secretary of Vatican, cardinal Pietro parolin, with the participation of the Secretary on intergovernmental relations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.
Zelensky noted the fruitful cooperation that had developed over 28 years of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Vatican, the date of the establishment which symbolically coincides with the visit today.
“Ukraine is ready to develop closer cooperation with the Holy see. We share common values and a shared vision of the future”, – said Vladimir Zelensky.
The head of state stressed that Ukraine is committed to peace and appeals to the Holy see and personally to his Holiness Pope Francis with a request for support and assistance in the peaceful settlement and ending the war in the Donbass.
Zelensky said that inter-Church dialogue in Ukraine may serve as an example for other countries, and noted the important role of the Ukrainian Council of churches and religious organizations in state Affairs.
