During a visit to Italy on Friday, 7 February, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a meeting with the Prime Minister of the country, Giuseppe Conte, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.
According to the Office of the President, special attention during the meeting was paid to the issues of trade-economic, investment cooperation and development of contacts between Ukrainian and Italian business circles.
“Italy — the three largest economic partners of Ukraine in the EU and one of the main trade partners in the world. The trade volume last year amounted to more than 4 billion U.S. dollars. Sure we can improve this result and thus to strengthen our friendship,” said Zelensky.
The President noted great potential for the conclusion of cooperation between Ukraine and Italy to a new level.
In particular, Zelensky expressed interest in an active involvement of the Italian investors to large-scale privatization in Ukraine, as well as the participation of Italian companies in infrastructure projects and development of the Ukrainian energy sector.
The sides discussed the issues of strengthening cultural ties and development of scientific and technical cooperation, especially in the space sector.
Also during negotiations, agreed to a schedule of contacts at the highest level for the year 2020 and discussed the preparation for the visit of Conte in Ukraine.
Zelensky later met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
