WhatsApp found dangerous vulnerability

WhatsApp managed to hack with the aid of a video file.

The engineers of the company Facebook, which owns the popular messaging app, found dangerous vulnerability in WhatsApp.

It can lead to hacking of your phone via a malicious video file, reports the online edition of the Chronicle.info with reference to NV.

According to Facebook: “a buffer Overrun on the stack can be caused by WhatsApp by sending a specially crafted MP4 file user WhatsApp”.

Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by sending a special video, which leads to execution of malicious code. The process does not require authentication and is running when the download of the malicious file in the system smartphone.

This error was corrected in the latest versions of WhatsApp, it was told about only after the release of the patch. The experts rated the vulnerability as “high” and advised users to update your app.

“WhatsApp is constantly working to improve the security of our service. We publish reports about potential problems that we fixed, in accordance with industry best practices. In this case, there is no reason to believe that users were being affected,” — said the representatives of the messenger.
