The rapid introduction of land reform in Ukraine could lead to irreversible error.
This was stated by managing Director of the European Bank for reconstruction and development for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Matteo Patrone, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to NV.
“The mantra that we constantly hear, including those heard in Mariupol (at the investment forum — ed) last week, “we need to hurry to do everything as quickly as possible, Yes, there will be mistakes, but then we will improve”. Land reform — a place where you cannot make mistakes, they will be irreversible. Let’s take a pause, think, and do everything slowly and correctly. And preserve the rights of small farmers,” he said.
This opinion is shared by Deputy head of the corporate Finance Department of the European investment Bank Jean-Jacques Salacrou.
“Ukraine should not rush… I would recommend to do it gradually, first solving the issue of lands in state ownership, privatizing it,” said Salacrou.
