California startup Aptera Motors is developing a three-wheeled electric vehicle with a record mileage on a single charge and solar batteries, reports Green Car Congress.
Accelerated Composites, a startup from California, founded in 2005 and went bankrupt in 2011. Now the startup has revived under the name Aptera Motors and has teamed up with the Slovenian company Elaphe Propulsion Technologies for serial production of the electric car, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to tehnot.com.
Electric car from Aptera and Elaphe will have to drive 1600 miles on a single charge, with a consumption of 6.5 kWh/100 km For comparison, the Tesla Model 3 rehobeth 16 kWh/100 km, and the Tesla Model X is about 25 kWh/100 km.
Technology wheel motors Elaphe provided electrocare from Aptera improved aerodynamics and safety, lower overall vehicle weight and significantly improved handling, in particular under difficult weather conditions. Accurate the “torque vectoring” allows you to make small turns at speed without physical rotation of the wheels. Also the wheel motors there is no need for bulky steering.
During testing, the wheel motor Elaphe L1500 record acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds. And record-breaking torque motor — 1500 N·m. One wheel the engine can achieve output power over 110 kW (147 HP) and fits into the wheel rim size of 19 inches or more. L1500 is compatible with all types of drive: rear, front and all-wheel drive.
Aptera plans to introduce the system to Never Charge the built-in solar charging function. The company claims that this will be the first solar charging system of vehicles that can meet the needs of most drivers.
According to the statement Aptera, Never Charge can provide up to 65 kilometers a day. According to statistics, this figure corresponds to the average distance driven per day in Ukraine. Also Never Charge allows the owner to sell surplus electricity. Initially, the feature will be available for owners of electric cars Aptera special issue. In the future, Never Charge be an option for any electric car company.
Five budget cars with automatic transmission
Detailed specifications and pricing will be announced in the coming months, before the start of pre-orders. Presumably, the cost of electric cars will be in the range from 36 thousand to 59 thousand dollars.
